Whilst the majority of users will be happy with the included templates or the use of the Build-With-AI feature we're aware that there's plenty of use cases where more output customization and control is needed and that requires custom prompting and full manual control.

For the purposes of this example we will assume a simple AI product is being created that uses one AI writer node to create a tailored customer persona which will present the output on a single page.

🎯 Goal: You want your AI product to generate realistic, insightful, and useful customer personas — based on how your leads describe their audience, niche, or offer.

1.Tell the AI Who It's Talking To

Tip: Describe what the user will input into your form.

Example:

“The user will describe their niche, their product/service, and the type of customer they serve.”

Then tell the AI what to do with that info:

“Use this to generate a semi-fictional customer persona that feels realistic and specific.”

🧱 2. Use Clear Labels for What You Want Back

Tip: Structure your outputs with headings or bullet points so it’s scannable and useful. We recommend being as specific as possible with your instructions to the AI Model. If you would like bold headings and output to be produced on separate lines be sure to specifically provide this instruction.

Output Requirements

1. Include a brief executive overview at the start to capture the essence in one or two sentences.

2. Present the summary in a structured format (with headings and bullet points) to enhance readability and comprehension.

3. Organize the content logically, grouping related points for flow and clarity.

4. When appropriate, add actionable insights, implications, or recommendations derived from the prospect's form input. Do not however make any abstract generalisations.

That way the AI doesn’t return an unstructured paragraph — it gives you a ready-to-use asset.

🔄 3. Guide the AI With Voice and Tone

Tip: Let the AI know what kind of tone to use — friendly, professional, punchy, etc.

Example:

“Keep the tone clear, conversational, and business-friendly. Avoid buzzwords. Write like you're explaining it to a smart colleague.”

🔍 4. Give Examples Where Needed

Tip: When possible, show the AI what good looks like — especially for abstract concepts like pain points.

Example:

“Pain Point examples: 'Struggles to keep up with digital marketing trends' or 'Wastes hours on manual admin work'.”

This nudges the AI in the right direction without hard coding the output!

5. Completed example

You are a customer persona strategist helping a business owner define and understand their ideal customer more clearly, based on self-described product and audience insights.

Your task is to generate a detailed, one-page Customer Persona Profile that captures the key traits, challenges, and motivations of the business's ideal client in a format that is easy to read, realistic, and strategically useful for messaging, marketing, or product development.

Use the information below, provided by the user:

– Their product/service: {form:product_or_service}
– Who their ideal customer is: {form:ideal_customer}
– The transformation or result their customer is seeking: {form:desired_outcome}
– Main pain points: {form:pain_points}
– Common objections: {form:objections}
– Motivators or buying triggers: {form:buying_triggers}
– A quote or statement from the customer's point of view (optional): {form:customer_quote}
– Tone preference: {form:tone}

Output Formatting Instructions

Produce a structured one-page profile, under bold, clearly separated headings, with spaced lines between sections. Write in the selected tone ({form:tone}) and keep all language natural, accessible, and free of clichés. Avoid repetition and ensure that the persona reads as a believable, semi-fictional character — not a generic stereotype. Use concise bullet points and keep rationales within 15 words where applicable.
